Feeling inspired by Pippa Hale: Pet Project? Join Mud & More Pottery to paint your own bisque pottery cat or dog, cast from 18th and 19th century objects in The Bowes Museum’s collection.
Please note: Each piece will be fired off-site in Mud and More’s kiln, and you’ll have three weeks to return and collect your unique creation. When reserving your place on the workshop, please select the number of bisque pottery sculptures you would like to decorate under ‘Bisque Pottery charge’. Bisque sculptures are charged at £6.00 each. Your bisque creation will be coated in non-toxic glaze and fired in an eco-kiln. There’s always a risk of breakages when pottery is fired so there may be imperfections to the finished product. The charge is non-refundable.
Spaces are limited so booking is essential. Appropriate for all ages under 14s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Workshops will run every Saturday from 6 September – 28 February 2026 in the exhibition gallery.
All our sessions are SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) accessible and friendly but there are monthly sessions designed with SEND community in mind. Dates include Saturday 30 December.
Please note on Family Open Day, a day of free family-friendly activities, Pet Pottery Painting will be on 10:30 am – 1:30 pm & 2:00 – 4:30 pm.
